Gallery 400

The design position at Gallery 400, UIC’s on-campus exhibition space, is filled with a new designer each semester. It’s an excellent opportunity for design students to learn what it’s like to work in a gallery setting.

Unfortunately, a rotational design position meant that the promotional materials, posters and other ephemera for the gallery also tended to feel…rotational. I made it my mission to help the gallery establish a strong sense of itself in its print materials by generating templates that could be used even after my tenure in the position had ended.

The black and white posters above were created by non-design student workers using the templates (in color) prepared by yours truly.

Voices Lecture Series

Voices Lecture Series

Each year, Gallery 400 hosts their Voices lecture series which invites artists, critics, designers, and educators to discuss timely ideas and engage audiences in their creative and conceptual processes.

For the Spring semester program, we wanted to incorporate bright colors and playful forms to introduce the visiting lecturers.
