Through A Glass Darkly

A University of Illinois at Chicago lecture series that takes its name from a 1961 Ingmar Bergman film about a woman who must negotiate her imagined reality with the world around her. Similarly, this lecture series sought to explore the boundaries between individual practice and industry standard.

The goal of the publication project was to document, translate and and interpret the ideas of the lectures and situate them in context with work produced by the graduate design students.

The Through A Glass Darkly publication project was a collaborative effort, completed by the first year graduate graphic design cohort at UIC.

While the lecture series sought to explore the boundaries between individual practice and industry standard, our collaborative publication aims to make connections between student work and the lecturer’s presentations.
